SOS Torch — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2 July 2026

The short version

SOS Torch itself does not collect, store, or share any personal data. No accounts, no analytics, no trackers, and the torch works with no internet connection. The Android app shows a single advertisement when it is opened with an internet connection (see "Advertising" below); the web version is completely ad-free.

Advertising (Android app only)

The SOS Torch Android app shows one advertisement when the app is opened, served by Google AdMob — and nothing after that, so nothing can interrupt a signal. If you are offline, no ad is shown at all and the app opens instantly. To serve and measure ads, Google may collect device information such as advertising identifiers, as described in Google's advertising policy and Google's privacy policy. In the European Economic Area and the UK you will be asked for consent before personalized ads are shown, and you can decline. We (the developer) do not receive or store any of this data. Your position is never shared with advertisers.

Camera

Camera access is requested only to switch the camera's LED flash on and off. No image is captured, viewed, stored, or transmitted — the video stream is used purely as the technical handle to the flash.

Location

If you tap "Get my position", GPS is read on your device only to display your coordinates, altitude and speed. Nothing is transmitted. The "copy coordinates" button puts the text on your clipboard so you decide who to share it with.

Storage

Only your settings (speed, sound on/off, etc.) are stored locally on your device.

Disclaimer

SOS Torch is a signalling aid. In a life-threatening emergency, always contact the local emergency number if any connectivity exists.
